What Does 'Kundalini' Mean?

In sanskrit kundalini means coiled up and refers to the primordial energy that lies dormant in every human body. Like a snake, this energy is present at the base of the spine in a bone called the coccyx in three and a half coils. The location of the energy is important as many cultures consider this to be sacred and the ultimate seat of power. Even today its significance is widely known and many alternative healing practices consider this to be supreme among all techniques.
